The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a sharp attack on the BJP government’s healthcare claims in Goa, alleging that the much-publicised “health model” exists only on social media. AAP leaders pointed out that the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) fails to cover even basic procedures such as cataract surgery, while AAP MLAs are facilitating free cataract surgeries for patients.
Reacting to BJP leaders’ recent statements, Valmiki Naik said the ruling party appears rattled by Arvind Kejriwal’s visit and speeches highlighting alternative healthcare models. He added that if the BJP is compelled to act out of fear of Kejriwal, the AAP would bring him to Goa repeatedly to ensure better healthcare for the people of the state.
AAP leader Sandesh Teleikar Dessai also criticised the Health Minister, stating that it is shameful for a minister to admit on camera that people personally call him for help at Goa Medical College (GMC). He said this clearly indicates that without political interference, common citizens are unable to access timely and proper treatment at GMC.
