PANAJI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Goa, has forecast light to moderate rainfall across North Goa and South Goa over the next seven days, from July 16 to July 22, with no weather warnings currently in force for the state.

According to the latest weather bulletin issued at 1:00 PM IST on July 16, both districts are expected to continue experiencing monsoon showers throughout the week. The IMD has not issued any colour-coded weather alerts, indicating that no severe weather conditions are anticipated during this period.

While Goa’s coastal areas remain free from specific warnings, the IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into parts of the west-central Arabian Sea, where squally winds of 45–55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph, are expected over the coming days. The advisory applies to offshore areas beyond 75 km from the coast and is intended to ensure the safety of fishing vessels operating in those waters.

The weather bulletin also reminds residents that prolonged monsoon conditions can lead to reduced visibility, waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic congestion, localized flooding, falling trees, landslides and temporary disruptions to electricity and other essential services. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during intense spells of rain and follow official weather advisories.
